If you are unable to stay for a whole week, taking part of our weekpackages, we offer a weekend packages during the summer months. Don’t miss the unique combination of Icelandic horses, Wine-growing and Italian culture!
We are pleased to propose our weekend stay, from Thursday to Sunday, with the possibility of adding extra nights. To participate in the weekend programme you must be able to trot and gallop. It’s also an advantage if you have “tölted” in the past. We need this information in order to put homogenous groups together.
If your group includes people who are not interested in riding, there are many walking trails near the farm and, of course, a great deal of culture to discover in the nearby villages.
The times indicated in the programme are from when we leave Voltrona until when we get back.
Thursday, day 1. Arrival and check-in after 3.00 p.m.. At 8.00 p.m., you will be served a four course dinner in the old barn which now houses our restaurant.
Friday, day 2. Breakfast served from 7.30 a.m.. Morning: San Gimignano Panorama, 2 hours. We ride through the typically hilly Tuscan countryside with the towers of San Gimignano in the background. This variably difficulty itinerary runs along gravel roads and through woods and meadows. We ride on the ridge of a hill offering an amazing view of the countryside before heading back to the farm. Optional lunch at the farm. In the afternoon, we suggest a visit to San Gimignano. This is a perfectly preserved medieval town which is famous throughout the world for its many towers (once there were 72 of them but now only 14 are left) which earned it its nickname of the 13th century Manhattan. Free choice for dinner.
Saturday, day 3. Breakfast served from 7.30 a.m.. Morning: Voltrona, 1 hour. We ride through vineyards and olive groves in the hilly surroundings of Voltrona and pass points with views of the towers of San Gimignano and the Tuscan woodland that offers much-appreciated shade in summer. Lunch included at Voltrona served from 12.00 a.m to 2.00 p.m.. Afternoon: Castelvecchio, 4 hours. This excursion covers fairly hilly terrain, both on gravel roads and through woodland in the Castelvecchio national park. It’s a perfect trip for those who are interested in combining history and life in the Tuscan countryside. In fact, the only way reach this historic place is on foot or horseback, including climbing up and down a ravine. Once you reach the ruins of Castelvecchio, you will be given a guided tour of the old 13th century village, followed by a picnic dinner. We will get back to the farm before sunset.
Sunday, day 4. Breakfast served from 7.30 to 10.00 a.m.. Check-out before 10.00 a.m. Thank you for your visit and we look forwards to seeing you again!
